Garden Antics is the combined landscape practice of Cal Agnew and Doug Schofield.
After meeting at art school, Cal + Doug studied horticulture and established Garden Antics. Both Cal + Doug are keen gardeners and have created two home gardens together in Ashfield, NSW - one of which can be seen in its early stages on Gardening Australia. They have now also created and cared for a number of gardens for clients throughout Sydney.
CAL
Landscape Architect, Horticulturalist
Cal holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from UTS, where he also teaches as a sessional academic. With a background in fine arts, Cal co-founded Garden Antics to reflect his creative and hands-on approach to landscape practice. He also brings three years of professional experience working on landscape projects with a focus on planting design – from small residential to large-scale ecological restoration.
DOUG
Horticulturalist, Artist
Doug is an early-career artist whose work focuses on themes of landscape through the lens of gardening. He was raised in his parents’ rambling garden on Yuin Country in Eden, and has been gardening since. Doug brings an innate sense for the practicalities of working with plants to every Garden Antics project. His primary modes of seeing and making – painting and gardening – constantly inform each other and provide a unique perspective from which Doug approaches landscape practice.
